A message from the President

ORSA was originally founded in 2002 with the intention of promoting the good name and brand of Rangers Football Club within the Pacific region; Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and other South Pacific countries.

The idea was first initiated in January 2002 at the request of the Rangers FC board. Martin Bain, the Rangers Chief Executive Officer, met with existing supporters clubs in Sydney to facilitate and support the concept of one unified voice for supporters in the region. One of the main advantages to date is the ongoing the communication link between supporters in the Oceania region and Rangers Football Club where all communication is channeled through ORSA, which is of great benefit to the supporters in our region and Rangers FC. Previously this communication was somewhat fragmented and very difficult to control usually resulting in supporters becoming frustrated and disappointed.

ORSA's vision extends to organising the family of Rangers supporters and Rangers supporters clubs in the region under the ORSA banner, “One Voice, One Vision.” ORSA is proud to be part of Rangers Worldwide Alliance (WWA) the club's official supporter’s body incorporating over 600 supporters clubs worldwide. The WWA comes under the Rangers Supporters Assembly. The ultimate aim of ORSA, via our network of supporters clubs in the region, is to be able to support Rangers FC and to bring the Rangers first team in a commercially viable pre-season tour with Australia its destination.

The long term goal, in partnership with Rangers FC, would be to incorporate a regular visit by the first team to the region in future years building ties within the local football community at all levels.

Since its inception in 2002 ORSA has grown substantially and includes numerous clubs in Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia. In recent years, ORSA from its formation in 2002 to its present stature has been in the capable hands of the executive committee, George Hughes (President), Allan Watson (Vice President), Ray Newall (Secretary) and Russell Chapman (Treasurer). The executive committee has substantial experience having committed years of dedicated time to the running of various supporters clubs in the region.

ORSA prides itself in assisting and encouraging its member supporters clubs located in various jurisdictions to run their club in a way that fits comfortably into their own environment providing that they abide by ORSA’s most flexible constitution and within the guidelines of Rangers FC. Supporters clubs in their infancy are encouraged to liaise with ORSA to enable them to grow, be the successful supporters club they desire and to be part of the worldwide Rangers family.

Member clubs and their members enjoy the privilege to apply for match tickets at Ibrox. Between Rangers FC and the Rangers Supporters Assembly of which the WWA come under, ticket applications are usually successful but cannot be guaranteed. The strict guidelines that apply to ticketing applications have been implemented to provide a very fair system for the member supporters.

ORSA has formed a most favourable relationship with Setanta Television who is the present provider of most televised Rangers games in the Oceania region. In this regard ORSA are well placed to communicate with Setanta on behalf of its member supporters clubs.

ORSA will strive to continue and provide the privileged benefits to its entire member supporters clubs and their members, to enable them to support our beloved team in an exciting manner from across the many lands and oceans.

ORSA – “ONE VOICE, ONE VISION.”
